VolunteerVolunteers, the animals need you! If you are interested in helping out, please complete the volunteer sign up form. Our Volunteer Coordinator will call you to schedule an orientation. Youth Volunteers: We currently have no positions available for youth under 16. Youth aged 16-18 are encouraged to apply for any position marked Youth in recruitment status. Positions Available: Position: Foster Parents Recruitment Status: Anywhere in the Bay Area, but must be able to come to the Oakland office and to East Bay veterinarians. Youth ok! Description: You will welcome a dog, puppy, cat or kittens into your home and care for them until adoption. You can read more about this position by visiting our Foster Page. Training Required: In-office training Hours: At home, 24 hours a day. Recruitment Status: Positions throughout the Bay Area . Description: You will help transport animals from shelters to our offices/vet clinics, take them to mobile adoptions/vet appointments and help pick up supplies. We have adoption events most weekends and need transporters to deliver/pick up supplies for these events. Training Required: Attendance at a Volunteer Orientation Additional Requirements: A clean drivers license, proof of insurance, a safe vehicle (or willingness to use our vehicle) Hours: As needed, weekdays, weekends, evenings Recruitment Status: Positions in the East Bay and occasionally in southern Marin County. Description: You will manage our weekly mobile adoptions. You will work with Mobile Adoption Assistants to set up adoption events, and ensure animals are safely handled. You will also interview potential adopters/fosters and approve adoptions/fostering. Training Required: Attendance at a Volunteer Orientation, shadow at least 2 other Coordinators at mobiles, in-office training (if possible) Additional Requirements: Excellent communication skills, commitment to the organization, experience with animals, ability to work well with a team Hours: Mobiles are held Saturdays 12-3 in East Bay, and on occasional Saturdays, 11-2 in Mill Valley. You would need to be available 20 minutes prior to and after each mobile. We ask that coordinators be available at least 1 every 2 months. See our current Mobile Adoption schedule. Recruitment Status: Training is held in our office, but you can screen applications from ANYWHERE! Description: You will assist our Animal Services staff in screening potential foster parents and adopters. You will become familiar with our animals and assist foster parents who need supplies, need to make vet appointments or who come in with animals for routine care. You will interact closely with our animals and help them find their forever homes! Training Required: Attendance at a Volunteer Orientation, in-office training Additional Requirements: Experience with animals, ability to work well with a team. Hours: Our East Bay office is open for volunteers 9-5 Monday through Friday. Once you complete your training, foster and adoption applications can be e-mailed to you at home or work, and you can screen them from anywhere. We ask that all applications are screened within 24 hours. Description: You will help us organize the fundraising campaigns and special events that promote our name in the community and help us raise funds to rescue the animals. We have several yearly fundraising events, the largest of which are our Picnic and Bark-B-Que and Fur Ball. Training Required: Some experience with fundraising, grant writing or events planning. Hours: As required and as you are available. See our Upcoming Events. Description: You would help with everything from answering phones, returning e-mail and phone messages, assembling mailings and information packets, and sending thank you letters. Other duties may include filing, running errands, and putting up posters. Training Required: Attendance at a Volunteer Orientation. Additional Requirements: Basic office skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office or willingness to learn as needed, friendly phone manner Hours: Our East Bay office is open for volunteers 9-5 Monday through Friday. Description: You will assist our Mobile Adoption Coordinator at weekly mobile adoptions with dog handling, cat handling, supply set up, selling merchandise and greeting members of the public. Training Required: Attendance at a Volunteer Orientation Additional Requirements: Excellent communication skills, commitment to the organization, experience with animals Hours: Mobiles are held Saturdays 12-3 in East Bay, and occasional Saturdays 11-2 in Marin. See our current Mobile Adoption schedule. Recruitment Status: Website help needed in Oakland Description: You will help update our 5 websites and/or help update our multimedia presentations. Training Required: Attendance at a Volunteer Orientation, in-office training to learn skills necessary for position. Additional Requirements: Knowledge of Adobe Contribute or similar program, familiarity with Microsoft Photoshop or similar, knowledge of Powerpoint. Hours: This position can be done in-office in East Bay 9-5 Monday through Friday or at home. |
