Hello, I’m Darla! Can you guess what my breed mix is? No? Neither can anyone else! It’s a mystery. But we know I’m small and cute and silly and wiggly, for sure. I was found as a stray but I’m very familiar with how to nap on a couch, so I’m not too “wild.” I’m house trained and I sleep through the night.
I’m living with a jumbo dog now, and he and I get along fine. And I’m ok with cats, too. But I really love people, once I get to know you. And then once I do, I’m a nice mix of following you around, being independent, and taking naps. I like to hang out and nap in the yard, or chill in the house on the couch, on the floor or in my bed, I’m happy wherever you are nearby. I’ll seek affection from you in the silliest way - I’ll show you when we meet. I’m ok being picked-up and held, but it’s not my favorite yet, so I’m probably best in a home with older kids who can understand this.
I do get car sick, so I’ll need a little patience and probably lots of practice trips before I’m a good traveler with you.
No one has heard me bark yet...not sure if I just haven’t found my voice yet or if I’ll stay like this. If I do bark, a little training can point me to the right times to be quiet.
I’m not too bad on leash, and am very curious while we are outside especially, but haven’t reacted to other dogs or birds or squirrels, so far. I still prefer to be a little behind you when we walk, but that’s better than being like a fly-on-a-leash, isn’t it? I’m working on basic obedience, and hope you’ll continue my training, maybe with really great treats like chicken!
